CeraVe Contains Carcinogens? Here's What Actually Happened.

You've Probably Heard The News About CeraVe. First Of All, Relax.

If you've been on Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, or WhatsApp recently, you've probably seen people saying CeraVe contains carcinogens and causes cancer.

First of all, relax.

The situation is not what many people are making it sound like.

Let's talk about what actually happened.

It Is NOT All CeraVe Products

This is the first thing people need to understand.

The discussion is not about every CeraVe product.

  • It is not about CeraVe moisturisers.
  • It is not about their hydrating cleansers.
  • It is not about their lotions.
  • It is not about the entire brand.

The concern is specifically around certain acne products that contain an ingredient called Benzoyl Peroxide.

In particular, products such as CeraVe Acne Foaming Cream Cleanser and CeraVe Acne Foaming Cream Wash have been mentioned in lawsuits and testing discussions. These are acne treatment products, not regular moisturisers or cleansers.

Second Of All, Relax. We Do Not Stock Them.

Tụrụ Beauty Store has never stocked these products.

And we do not currently stock them.

So if you're one of our customers panicking because you bought a CeraVe moisturiser, cleanser, lotion, cream or body product from us, this discussion does not apply to those products.

Take a deep breath.

So What Is Actually Happening?

The issue isn't that somebody discovered manufacturers were secretly pouring benzene into skincare products.

That's not what happened.

What researchers and independent laboratories found is that Benzoyl Peroxide, a common acne-fighting ingredient, can break down and form benzene under certain conditions.

This appears to be related to the stability of the ingredient itself.

In simple English:

The concern is not that benzene was intentionally added.

The concern is that the acne ingredient may degrade into benzene over time.

That's a very different thing.

Was It Recalled?

This is where social media and reality part ways.

Many people online are talking as though entire brands have been recalled.

That is not true.

The FDA tested 95 benzoyl peroxide acne products and found that more than 90% had undetectable or extremely low levels of benzene.

Only a small number of products were voluntarily recalled at the retail level.

The FDA also stated that even if someone used these products daily for decades, the risk of developing cancer from the benzene levels found was very low.

Again, that's the FDA's position.

So Should You Stop Buying US Products?

Absolutely not.

In fact, this entire situation highlights one of the biggest advantages of buying authentic US products.

Think about it. How did this issue even come to light?

  1. Because independent laboratories were testing products.
  2. Because researchers were investigating products.
  3. Because regulatory bodies were reviewing products.
  4. Because manufacturers were being scrutinised.
  5. Because there are systems in place constantly looking for problems.

Science keeps evolving.

Testing methods keep improving.

As new information becomes available, products continue to be reviewed, monitored and improved.

That is how consumer protection is supposed to work.

The Bigger Lesson

Many people have asked:

"Does this mean we should stop buying imported products and just buy whatever is available locally?"

No.

The lesson here isn't that imported products are bad. The lesson is that transparency matters.

When products are sold in markets where there is extensive testing, ongoing research, manufacturer accountability and independent oversight, issues are more likely to be discovered and discussed publicly.

  • Consumers are informed.
  • Manufacturers respond.
  • Regulators investigate.
  • Recalls happen when necessary.

That process is actually a good thing.

Why We Will Continue To Sell Authentic Products

This is one of the reasons we are obsessive about authenticity.

We buy directly from manufacturers.

Not wholesalers.

Not random suppliers.

Not anonymous sources.

Directly from the manufacturers.

Because when products come directly from legitimate manufacturers, there is accountability.

If a formulation changes, we know.

If a packaging update happens, we know.

If a safety issue is identified, we know.

And most importantly, our customers know.

That peace of mind is one of the biggest reasons people shop with Tụrụ Beauty Store.

The goal isn't to pretend problems never happen.

The goal is to ensure that when information emerges, you're buying products from a supply chain that is transparent, traceable, and accountable.

And that's exactly what we will continue to do.
